Important Requirements:  The adopters must be committed to helping Rae continue his weight loss.  He weighs 27#.  He is down one pound and has more to lose. NO stairs.  Pet steps/or ramp MUST be present in the home.  Rae has been learning to use these but he still likes to jump if unsupervised.  He can walk one mile without a problem. Fenced in back yard a must.

My name is Rae and I’m an adorable “Floof”.  I love to play with my ball and my stuffed animals.  The real game is, I bring you my toy and you try to get it from me.  I am very smart and learn quickly.  I go potty outside and rarely have accidents in the house.  I DO NOT LIKE TO BE CRATED.  My foster mom blocks the stairs and the living room so that I’m not tempted to climb or jump.  I do great with this arrangement, and have no accidents.  I like to have space to move.  
I will do best with my humans home most of the time (at least one person) because I just love attention.  When I go outside it’s better if you stand in the doorway to watch me so that I know you are ok and don’t need my protection.

I love people and will bark when someone walks in just to say “hi”, then I bring them my ball.  I don’t like big dogs but would possibly be ok with a smaller, laid back friend.  As long as we were introduced slowly.  I’ve never been around cats and I might want to chase them.

Bedtime: I sleep on the big bed and sometimes can be a bed hog.

Walks:  This is my absolute favorite activity.  

Car rides: Not my favorite but I think with training I might be able to enjoy them.  

Barking: Hey, I’m a dachshund.  I bark at noises outside but not too bad.  Oh, and I’ll protect the yard from scary things like birds and villainous squirrels.  

Allergies: I am on a very specific food and I must stay on this food. (see pictures)
