BEAUTIFUL ATLAS IS READY FOR HIS FUREVER HOME! MICHIGAN AND SURROUNDING STATES.
Atlas, also known as Atlas Atticus, goes by the nickname Attie. (“At-tea”) and is 4-5 years old.
He gets along well with cats and doesn’t chase them. We have wild geese that come to our pond and he doesn’t chase them either. He’s good with other female dogs that are submissive. He’s NOT good with other dominant or male dogs. He has to be placed in a home where he is the ONLY dog or with a smaller FEMALE SUBMISSIVE dog.
He has the recessive “fluffy” gene which gives him a longer coat. We keep his fur on his rear end short so he doesn’t get “poop clingers”. He’s pretty good when it comes to being bathed and groomed. He’s used to the dog wash and clippers. He’s good with older children.
He knows some basic commands and will sit when told. He also comes when called, and knows to expect a treat for a reward when he’s good. He loves to be petted and will cock his head when you talk to him. He loves to go for walks! He’s well behaved on a leash. He will ride fine in the backseat of a car and not get car sick. He has trouble jumping in to the car but can jump out.
He used to try to “herd” us and we have broken him of the habit of nipping ankles. He tries very hard to be a good dog and seems to learn at a reasonably fast pace. He wants to please.
He has a “clown” personality. He will toss his own floppy toys in the air to try and catch them.
He lays on his back, side, or in the typical “Corgi Sploot” with his back legs spread. He will pace at the door and whine when he wants to go out.
He likes to follow his “person” from room to room, but unlike other dogs with separation anxiety, he doesn’t destroy things when he’s alone. He doesn’t get in the garbage. He’s trained to go into the kitchen when we are about to leave and he goes behind a baby gate.
Occasionally he will just sit and howl like a coyote. I have no idea why. Mostly though, he’s quiet unless someone comes to the door.
He likes Purina One Lamb and Rice dog food mixed with Purina One Chicken and Rice dog food. He’s been on heartworm and flea medication seasonally. He’s up to date on all his shots (we believe) but is not neutered. This will be scheduled immediately upon adoption.
We have a very, very tiny Toy Poodle who is less than 4 pounds. Atlas plays very gently with her. He lays on his side and just waves his front legs and nose when she’s bouncing around his head, but he’s never nipped at her.
Absolutely no apartments , and a fenced in yard is preferred. Please make sure you read his biography thoroughly before applying.
