Howie Howie is a beautiful 6-year -old, purebred male isabella dachshund, with the most striking grey eyes that match his fur and will look right through you! He is an extremely clever boy, who quickly takes to tricks like ringing the “potty bell” right next to the door when it’s time to go outside for a bathroom break, or going to his “crate” to rest when asked. He is extremely loyal and protective to members of his pack and would be thrilled to be someone’s lap dog forever!
Howie does best with adults and older children. If younger children do not respect his space, he could become aggressive and will give warning snaps. Howie also has some moderate anxiety and will do best in a home that can provide a quiet outdoor and indoor environment for him to thrive. He does not do well with strange dogs (besides Brady or others that he knows). Cats are an unknown, and he takes time to warm up to human visitors. Howie’s fur is thinning on his back and may need help with alopecia as he ages, a condition common in isabellas. He also should not spend prolonged periods of time out in the sun due to his light coloring.
Brady Brady is a sweet and sensitive 7 year old purebred male dachshund with the most gorgeous red coat and deep brown eyes! He is extremely laid back and easy going, so long as his humans and fur brother, Howie, are close by. His favorite hobby is to sit outside on the porch on a nice day and enjoy the sun and a warm breeze - he could spend hours! He also understands and responds to simple commands and directions well, and loves to cuddle just as much as his brother!
Brady has some separation anxiety and does best with humans who are home the majority of the time - he is not destructive but cries heavily when alone. He does not do well with strange dogs (besides Howie, or others that he knows) and takes time to warm up to human visitors.
Howie and Brady are a bonded pair and cannot be separated. They are potty trained to go to the back door and roam around a fenced in back yard. They are leash trained but not walked on them frequently. There are sometimes accidents in the house when it’s raining, snowing or too cold outside. They are accustomed to sleeping in a crate together at night or during the day if they’re home alone - their crate is their respite. Both dogs are “tweens” weighing approximately 15-17 pounds each.
