Luca

Luca is a 9-10 year old dachshund weighing in at 18 pounds. He can be very energetic when playing outside and playing with toys. But most of the time you can find him curled up under a blanket in the dog bed.  At first he did not seem to know basic commands like sit, but now he sits and shakes prior to meal times without asking him to!   

He was a little shy in the beginning, very quiet and kept to himself. But he adapted quickly to his foster home. He barks during meal times and when you pull in the driveway but otherwise is pretty quiet unless there's a chicken in his yard.   

He likes things done his way and on his own time, otherwise he can get a bit nippy especially when being asked to move from his preferred spot. Would do best in a home with no kids given his history with nipping at people. He does well with the other senior dogs in the home but might do better with a younger dog that he could play with. Loves the fenced in back yard but is use to being on a long leash when going outside when there is not a fence.  

He is current on all vet care, his last dental left him with only 10 teeth. He is taking Prozac to see if that will help with some behavior issues. He is a quick learner and would do great working with a trainer.
